MULTILATERALE 2023 – INTERNATIONAL PHILATELIC EXHIBITION
The international philatelic exhibition Multilaterale 2023 in Koper
Between 7 and 10 September 2023, the Slovenian Philatelic Association (FZS) will host the international exhibition MULTILATERALE for the first time. This exhibition takes place every two years under the aegis of the regional group Multilaterale, comprising the philatelic associations of seven central European countries: Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Slovenia.
This regional cooperation of philatelic associations began in 1988 when the philatelic associations of Austria, Germany and Switzerland joined forces as a group called Trilaterale and held a joint exhibition in Salzburg. In 1994 they were joined by the philatelic associations of Liechtenstein and the Netherlands, while in 2014 the philatelic associations of Luxembourg and Slovenia joined the group for an exhibition in Haldensleben in Germany.
In 2004 the postal operators of the participating countries also joined in. Meetings are held in the days following the exhibition, either jointly or separately for postal operators and philatelic associations. These meetings are an excellent opportunity for the exchange of ideas and good practices in areas such as stamp issuing and working with young people, as well as for other forms of cooperation.
As the host of the exhibition in 2023, the FZS decided to hold the event in the port city of Koper on the Adriatic coast. As well as the exhibitors, who presented their exhibits in more than 300 frames, stamp dealers and postal operators were present with their own stands. The event was granted recognition by the Federation of European Philatelic Associations (FEPA).
