European Youth Olympic Festival – EYOF Maribor 2023
The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) takes place under the high patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar.
With more than 30 years of tradition, EYOF is Europe’s largest multi-sport event for young athletes aged 14 to 18. For those who take part, the event represents their first encounter with the Olympic movement and an opportunity to gain invaluable experience for further competitions on their way to the Olympic Games. At the same time, in the Olympic spirit, it encourages the athletes and other participants to adhere to the principles of fair play, tolerance and friendship.
Maribor, a city with a sporting heart, will host EYOF 2023 from 23 to 29 July this year. Some 3,600 participants are expected from 48 countries, with athletes able to compete in 11 disciplines – more than ever before. The event will also bring thousands of representatives of various delegations, media and other staff to Slovenia, along with 800 sports professionals and more than 5,000 spectators. A sporting event of this size will require the collaboration of up to 800 volunteers.
During the course of EYOF, the city and its visitors will come together for a unique event with a remarkable sports programme and attractive accompanying events, where we will undoubtedly enjoy unforgettable moments that will remain in the history of the city and the hearts of all participants.
