ANNIVERSARIES
Centenary of the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie – FIP
The Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP) is a non-profit organisation established in Paris on 18 June 1926.
Its objectives are to promote philately and stamp collecting, foster friendly relations and maintain close cooperation among philatelists and stamp collectors worldwide, with the aim of promoting peace and friendship among all peoples.
Its objectives also include adopting rules governing its various activities, defining at the highest level the regulations for international philatelic exhibitions and competitions, and supporting international philatelic events of all kinds organised by its member federations. In Slovenia, this means the Slovenian Philatelic Association (FZS).
Several technical commissions operate within the FIP, one for each exhibition class, for example traditional philately, postal history, postal stationery, thematic philately and others. An important role is also played by the commission for the fight against forgeries.
Member countries may organise world exhibitions under the patronage of the FIP in accordance with the FIP General Regulations for Exhibitions. More information about the FIP and the structure and work of its commissions is available on the FIP website: www.f-i-p.ch
